Day 2       MAKARSKA – MLJET (B,L)

In the early morning, we will head towards the island of Mljet, the most forested island in the Adriatic. Island of Mljet is famous for its wines, olives and goat’s cheese. It really is an unspoilt island covered by a dense forest.

On our way to island of Mljet, we will have a swimming stop on Pelješac, a peninsula in southern Dalmatia well-known for its vineyard area.

Mljet National Park covers the entire north-west part of island of Mljet. Inside national park there are two saltwater lakes – Large and Small Lake which stretch for about four kilometers. National park provides amazing opportunities for swimming, hiking or cycling.

Right in the middle of the Large Lake, there is a small island with a building of the former Benedictine monastery, but now a café/restaurant. The small island is connected by boats.

Visitors are expected to pay for the entrance to National park on site. Overnight in port Polača or Pomena.

After breakfast we will leave for city of Dubrovnik and for many, a definite highlight of this cruise. This fascinating and attractive city attracts visitors from around the world year after year. City of Dubrovnik is nicknamed “Pearl of the Adriatic” and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The City Walls of Dubrovnik are its most recognizable feature. They are 1940 meters long with six fortresses called Lovrijenac, Revelin, Minčeta, Bokar, St. John and St. Lucas. It is a must-do thing when visiting Dubrovnik.

Old Town Dubrovnik is beautiful with all its attractions museums, churches and palaces.  See how local aristocrats once lived.
